Flat Heating Elements (over 200°C)

As flexible and variable as our silicone heating mats, kapton (polyimide) heating foils and polyester heating elements are, so fixed is their maximum temperature application limit of 200°C. Above this threshold, surface heating elements are insulated either with mica insulating material (mikanite and phlogopit) or with ceramics. In order to give these naturally brittle materials a certain degree of dimensional flexibility, they are framed in metal if required or manufactured as segment radiators. Standardized heating bands can also be used for cylindrical components such as pipes, plasticizing units or injection moulding nozzles.

Alternatively, heating plates and hot surfaces can also be equipped close to the contour with

With correspondingly tight-meshed assembly or laying, quite homogeneous temperature profiles can also be achieved in the surface, and this for operating temperatures up to 750°C.

The following selection table gives you an initial overview of which basic surface heating types are eligible for your application.

Mica Insulated (Strip) Heaters

MICANITE is a kind of insulation paper which is impregnated with a heat resistant binder and afterwards pressed in several shifts under heat and high pressure to plates. This material is heat resistant up to 350 °C, as special construction (Phlogopit) up to 450 °C, and is used for the wire wound formers as well as for the encapsulating cover plates...

Ceramic Insulated (Band) Heaters

Ceramic surface heating elements are predestined for high-temperature applications beyond 450 °C, for example for pipe heating in process heat technology, especially when gases are involved. Ceramic insulated flat heating elements are also brought into action where a heat storage capacity is needed, as in hot plates the case...
