Menden. The series "Last minute apprenticeship" ended successfully. Many young people applied for the presented apprenticeships. Freek hired two of them.

Newspaper Gets Teenagers and Companies Together David Pelka is happy. Since yesterday he officially has an apprenticeship at Freek. During the past five weeks the WESTFALENPOST presented nine Menden-based companies which have been looking for trainees for this year. The response to this series has been huge. For David Pelka begins the serious part of life on 1. August. "I had written so many applications before I read the article in the WESTFALENPOST", says the 17-year-old, who has just passed the final exams at the "Hauptschule Bösperde". And what he saw was exactly what he was looking for: Freek searched for part-trimmer trainees ("Teilezurichter"). The young mendener quickly put his documents together and sent them to the company. "The response to the article was very good", managing director Wolfgang Kaiser says. Altogether 25 applications arrived within a few days after the publication. "For us it was an advantage that the applications arrived shortly afterwards so the interviews could be scheduled at short notice – and the applicants had been informed quickly whether or not they had been shortlisted. "There has been only one woman among the applicants", production manager Wolfgang Berndt regrets. Yet he especially appealed to the female gender five weeks ago. In the meantime David makes a practical training in the medium-sized company. So he gets an insight into the work and the work climate. With him another part-trimmer trainee ("Teilezurichter") and an IT-administrator begin their apprenticeship in August.
